Flower Burger, Milan

Flower Burger

Flower Burger opened three years ago for the first time in Porta Venezia and since then has been opening venues around Italy. It is known for its clean eating concept offering healthy fast food for an incredible price. Located in the heart of the Naviglio, on Via Tortona, you will find this funky little place serving the most delicious vegan burgers. Matteo Toto, the creator spent his time travelling around trying various flavours looking for the perfect combination between burgers and vegan friendly cuisine.

The decor is awesome. Abstract flowers painted on the ceiling, light bulbs hanging as if they were a work of art in a museum and cute sentences painted on the walls all add to the chilled, unconventional vibes of the place. For me it was as though I was entering a place in Shoreditch back in London, it was such an awesome atmosphere!

Regarding the fast food concept, you order at the till and you're given a little buzzer that vibrates when the food is ready. Choosing the food is the hard part, as there are so many delicious burgers to pick from. The bread comes in a variation of doughs such as cherry extract in the pink burger, cumin in the yellow burger, charcoal bread for the black burger, spirulina in the green burger and seven grains for the white burger. Not to mention the varieties of vegan patties and sauces available on the menu!

There are six burgers to choose from: The Spicy Cecio (cumin dough, chickpea and barley burger, onion tartar, spinach, tomatoes and lettuce, spicy sauce) [7.5], Classic Cecio (seven grain dough, chickpea and barley burger, lettuce, tomatoes and vegan mayonnaise) [6.5], Cheesy Cecio (charcoal bread, chickpea and barley burger, lettuce, tomatoes, vegan cheese and tartarella sauce) [8], Cherry Bomb (cherry extract dough, lentil, soy and basmati rice burger, lettuce, vegan cheese, tomatoes and rocktail sauce) [9], Flower Burger (charcoal bread, bean and seitan burger, tomatoes, vegan cheese and a magic sauce) [9] and Tofungo (seven grain dough, tofu and pea burger, tomatoes, mushrooms, lettuce, spinach and mushroom sauce) [8.5].

We ordered the Cherry Bomb and the Flower Burger. Both were such a light and tasty alternative to a usual burger. I would highly recommend the Flower Burger, as each and every component inside the burger was incredible, from the vegan cheese (which I still don't know how it can exist) to the bean and seitan burger to the magic cream which to this day I'm unsure of what it's made of but it tasted absolutely wonderful. The Cherry Bomb was more varied in terms of flavours, but the lentil, soy and basmati rice burger was so interesting I would certainly order it again!

Once you have chosen your burger you can decide what extra sauces you would like, chips and any desert. The thing I must definitely recommend to try is the "salame di cioccolato", literally translated as chocolate salami. This thing is basically a rocky road without the marshmallow, but it tastes absolutely delicious and is a perfect palette cleanser after a cheesy burger.
