Grind, London

Grind

The first time I heard about Grind was through Instagram, when I saw a beautiful looking pink latte. I clicked on the location and found that this place was in London - Grind is a group of six cafés & three restaurants located across multiple locations in London: Shoreditch, Soho, Holborn, Royal Exchange, Covent Garden, Whitechapel and Clerkenwell. The three restaurants are located in London Bridge, Clerkenwell and Exmouth Market.

First opened in 2011 in Shoreditch, Grind takes pride primarily in its coffee, that is roasted daily in their HQ to ensure exceptional quality. Each and every one of their locations have a different theme that is worth exploring, for example the interior in the Clerkenwell Grind is an aesthetic perfection, whilst their Covent Garden branch is a perfect location for studying. The Shoreditch grind contains a recording studio since 2012 whilst the Soho Location is more known for its basement cocktail bar.

I recently visited the Covent Garden branch for a quick brunch before heading off to University. The interior was arranged as a rustic, diner like setting with neon lights above the stairs and a comfortable atmosphere, perfect for opening up a book and sipping tea.

However I came here two days in  a row because I just couldn't get enough. I am the biggest fan of avocado on toast as you probably have guessed from all my brunch posts. Which to be honest is the most boring option I could go for because it's not exactly difficult to make it at home, however I can tell you that it certainly tastes better when someone else makes it for you! Anyway, we ended up ordering a feast for breakfast because everything sounded too tasty. In terms of food we chose the French banana toast with coconut cream [£9] and avocado on Sourdough toast with poached eggs [£8.50]. You know when you cut into the poached egg and the orange just slowly oozes out? Yeah, that happened. Absolutely divine. If you're looking for a something sweet then on their counter they have various little snacks such as custard tarts, pain au chocolat, protein balls or my personal favourite, almond croissants. Furthermore, they have lighter options such as Granola smoothie bowls or açai bowls.

We then decided to go crazy on the drinks, my friend ordered a red velvet hot chocolate [£3.50] . I mean, must I need to repeat? Not only it looked AWESOME but it tasted like heaven. I chose a classic matcha latte [£3]  because hey, it's me. Thirdly we chose to have a smoothie [£5] ...something I never usually do because it's "so extra" but honestly these were insane. We decided to keep to the colour scheme so my friend opted for the red smoothie made of Berries, prunes, avocado, coconut, almond milk and I chose the green smoothie made of Spinach, banana, almond milk, coffee, cacao nibs. This was the first time I have ever had a vegetable in my smoothie and you know what? it is my new favourite thing.

In terms of lunch,  having tried avocado on toast for breakfast the previous day I thought I would opt for something different. I ended up choosing beetroot infused salmon bagel and poached egg. When the bagel arrived, I have never seen something more beautiful. A Beautifully toasted bagel with a pinkish coloured salmon and a perfectly poached egg - a delicious combination of food for a Thursday. The beetroot infused salmon was such a great innovation, giving an interesting touch to my dish.

Regarding the drink of course I had to choose their beetroot latte, as this beautiful pink drink was the real reason as to why I chose the place and I seem to be following a colour scheme here - but you can opt for various other hot or cold drinks such as turmeric latte, matcha latte, smoothies and juices.

Now i've only named a few of the delicious meals offered by Grind, and this is just one out of the 10 venues. With Grind there is so much to discover so if you're in London looking for a unique location to indulge in, then Grind is the one!
