LE MÉRIDIEN, KOH SAMUI

Looking for an escape to paradise? Travelling to Koh Samui and unsure about where to stay? Then you should check out Le Méridien, a luxury resort situated in Lamai, Koh Samui.

Part of the SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) group, Le Méridien is a perfect hideaway for your little trip abroad to the island of Koh Samui. Located in the more secluded part of the Island, you will feel like you are out of this world, surrounded by ocean and nature.

The Rooms are wooden huts and you can chose amongst various suites. I stayed in the Terrace suite, which is a classic double sized bed and a beautiful outdoor terrace with an ocean view and also tried the Plunge pool Suite where you have access to a more private pool. The Rooms are very spacious, with a main area and a very large bathroom that contains both a shower and a bath. The rooms are provided with all essential amenities such as Wi-Fi, various beauty products, mosquito repellent spray, hair dryer and an in room safe.

Breakfast is served in the Latest Recipe restaurant. You will have a selection of hot foods such as eggs, sausages, noodles and also cereals, freshly bakes pastries, home made jams and sushi. Don’t forget to try the delicious tropical fruits such as the Jackfruit and Asian bananas [they are so small but taste incredible], and most importantly their home made matcha brioche bread - I have never tried anything like it, and it is divine toasted with strawberry jam on top! Take your breakfast upstairs in the mezzanine and enjoy a 180° view of the ocean, and embrace the beauty of your surroundings.

With regards to lunches and dinners, the resort has two main restaurants. The first being called Latest Recipe, located where you have your morning breakfast with a full frontal pool and ocean view. Only shaded from the pavilion roof, this restaurant is completely open allowing fresh breezes to pass through. Latest Recipe caters a selection of local recipes and a few international options if you have had enough of eating Thai.  [06.00-23.00]. The second restaurant is one of the most romantic things I have ever seen, al fresco dining on a pier in the ocean. This is perfect if you’re on a honeymoon or a simple romantic getaway. Decorated with dimmed lanterns this restaurant combines romance and luxury. The menu is a seafood combination or a ¾ course set meal. [Opening times: 18.00-22.00].

Koh Samui

The outdoors in the Méridien resort complex is like an enchanted forest. I have always been in love with palm trees and tropical vegetation so this nature was a dream to me. Go for an evening stroll amongst nature and really take it in.

The swimming pool is absolutely beautiful, with blossoming frangipani trees and a constant chilled vibe. Don’t forget to order a fresh coconut to sip on the poolside, it is super nutritious and refreshing!

As far as the facilities are concerned, le Méridien offers a wide array of complimentary services. The most important being the evening shuttle bus going to a different village every night – make sure you check with reception to find out which day is where. Furthermore the complimentary shuttle bus taking you to Silver Beach is also an important service, as it is so much easier to have a lift to the beach when it’s either boiling hot or pouring with rain. They also have a Spa, where you can enjoy some rejuvenating and re-energizing treatments. Click here to find out about their treatments.

Finally don’t forget your gym kit as the resort hosts daily activities, perfect to burn a few calories. You can opt to try out some Thai boxing, yoga, kayaking or simply work out at the gym! Finally, make use of their tourism services; the hotel organizes and books tours for their clients at one of the best prices in the island! We booked our boat ride to Ang Thong National Park and the Island Tour though them.

Finally, the hotel is tactically located where you are at walking distance from a couple of great restaurants only a few minutes away on the right hand side. I highly recommend trying the Romantic Bamboo, super incredible food and very low prices, and you also have Lamai village only 10 minutes down the road. Furthermore you can take some strolls down the beach and discover the surroundings, if you fancy a change from the pool you have Lamai Beach right in front of the hotel.

I had such an unforgettable experience here at le Méridien, and couldn’t have been happier to have stayed here!
