Located in the heart of Notting Hill on Portobello Road, Farm Girl is hidden from the hustle and bustle of the London life and is situated in the courtyard of a building. Probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing and venues, Farm Girl will literally take your breath away. As you walk through the doors to the courtyard you see a few beautifully arranged tables, fairy lights, hanging from the trees and a cute little area to sit down and have brunch. I have always wanted to come here but was frequently told it is impossible to find a table so be weary about visiting at the weekend, but during the weekdays you should find a place no problem. We ended up sitting outside as there were electric heaters that kept it super warm and plus I prefer eating in the fresh air.
What is great about farm girl is that they try to use and embed unique superfoods in their dishes such as bee pollen, chia seeds, maca, hemp seeds and more. This adds nutritious value to their food.
The menu is quite extensive, with a decent amount of options for breakfast, brunch and lunch ranging from fresh baked croissants, sweet dishes, savoury breakfasts, salads and sandwiches. I am a sucker for brunch so we opted for avocado on toast with pomegranate and apple pancakes with maple syrup and cinnamon. It was definitely a difficult decision though, as their açai bowl made up of winter berries and banana sounded enticing as so does their porridge topped with bee pollen and maple syrup. What I absolutely adore about this place is their attention to detail: they present their dishes so beautifully it felt like such a shame to eat it. Also their various additions such as pomegranate or coconut flakes really add a unique and fun touch.
Farm Girl also offers many lunch options. What really caught my eye and I would love to return for is their blue jack tacos, made of BBQ pulled jackfruit, pineapple, guacamole, egg free mayonnaise & lettuce, served on two soft blue corn tortillas. I mean... how awesome does that sound!?
As for drinks, farm girl is known for their awesome choices of lattes. I had to order their Latte Black, made of charcoal as it looked so awesome (and thankfully tasted it too), whilst my friend chose the liquid golden latte. Other interesting options are the rose latte, hibiscus matcha and butterfly matcha. The certainly exceed all expectations with their latte art ! Other interesting options in terms of drinks are their various waters such as pure coconut water, raspberry water, watermelon water and their wide variety of teas such as hibiscus, chai, fennel and liquid gold made of fresh lime juice, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric,
nutmeg, astragalus & honey.
One thing I definitely want to note is that the staff is super attentive to their customers. Although initially we were the only ones outside they always made sure to come out and check whether we needed anything. Customer Service is something I find essential, especially in restaurants and cafés. There is nothing worse than having bad customer service as it has such a negative impact on your food. Thankfully here they were great and coupled with top quality food I would place Farm Girl in my top 5 Brunch locations in London.
NB. This café does not take bookings so as I previously mentioned, it is quieter during the week, but if you are only down at weekends then I recommend you go super early and be prepared for a 10/15 minute wait.
